Amplify Client Story: Gareth James

Name: Gareth James

Business: MTT Poker School

Problem: I had a cohort-based group programme I launch every month which was becoming stressful.

Result: An evergreen group programme, with systems in place that means every day I’m getting messages from people asking if they can join my programme. I deliver better outcomes for clients and have more time to spend with my family.

“Every day throughout the month, I’m now getting messages on social media and email asking if they can join my programme.

I not only deliver better outcomes to my clients, I’ve made my business more efficient and I have more free time to spend with family”

Before working with Gemma…

I was launching a cohort-based programme every month, which was stressful. I wanted to move to an Evergreen approach to reduce the stress and feast / famine cycle. I was running groups side by side, at different stages so I was repeating myself. I thought there must be a better way to do this.

Gareth’s Key Points

  • Although I was getting the numbers I wanted each month, the model wasn’t working for me. I had pieces of the puzzle in place but I knew there was a better way to do it and I needed some support with it. I always feel like you should learn from someone who’s done what you want to do and that’s what it felt like - I knew you had the systems I could learn and implement.

  • I had everything I want and some things I didn’t know I needed. Even though I had the course in place, I was able to look at it again to make sure there were really good outcomes and milestones. There were nuggets of wisdom I could pull out of it in every module to amplify my business and make it more efficient.

  • I had only recently started email marketing, but it felt stressful as at the end of each month I was trying to generate all these leads for the next cohort. Now I now have a welcome sequence in place to nurture leads that works. The nurture sequence shows them what I’m about and the value they can get straight away, which turns them into a paying client quicker. This means that people are requesting information throughout the month to join the group.

  • Every day throughout the month, I’m now getting messages on social media and email asking if they can join my programme.

  • I’ve implemented your Monthly Sales Ritual - a checklist for me to follow to drive sales each month which is really helpful.

  • Cohort to evergreen format: it’s much easier to run one call for everyone than running groups side by side. People who are further on help people who have just started which is a really nice dynamic, and those earlier on can see the progress people further on are making which is motivating. It’s less stressful and less work - my work is higher quality and I’m getting better outcomes for clients.

  • I’ve created a lead magnet and set up Facebook Ads, using the framework in Amplify - that’s been eye-opening and I’m surprised that they’re cheaper to run than I expected. I thought it was going to be £5-7 a lead but it’s been around 80p.

  • Key takeaway: Systems are really important in business if you want to run efficiently and those systems you can absolutely implement through Amplify.

  • I now not only deliver better outcomes to my clients, I’ve made my business more efficient and I have more free time to spend with family - my wife and my new baby.

  • I’m now looking forward to spending six months seeing the fruits of my labour, step back and enjoy the process a bit more, and getting back to coaching while the systems and automation work in the background.

Who would you recommend Amplify to?

Anyone who already has an existing group programme and wants to move from a cohort to evergreen group programme, or if anyone working 1:1 and who wants to move to a group approach to help more people.

What should others know about working with Gemma?

I love to learn new stuff - sometimes you can learn and not have the time to implement, but in Amplify, you have the time and space to learn, implement, maybe fail and implement again - you have your support and the group support to get it right.

I follow a lot of people on social media - the David Goggins approach or Gary Vee hustle culture. And that works for some people. It absolutely doesn’t work for me. I don’t want to hustle. I want to work less and enjoy life. I feel it Amplify was a lot less toxic positivity and more chilled out. Maybe that was the 85% female dynamic or maybe just the dynamic you’ve cultivated in the group. I really enjoyed it.
